Account & security

I can't sign in

Reset a forgotten password, and what to check when your email or username isn't recognised.

Almost every sign-in problem is one of three things. Work down the list.

1. Reset your password

You don't need to be signed in to do this.

  1. Go to the sign-in screen on web or mobile.
  2. Tap or click Forgot password?
  3. Enter your email address.
  4. Open the reset link we email you and choose a new password.

If the email hasn't arrived after a few minutes, check your spam folder.

2. Check which email you signed up with

This is the most common cause, and the easiest to miss.

The reset email only goes to an address that actually has an account. If nothing arrives and it isn't in spam, there's a good chance the account is under a different address — a work address instead of a personal one, or the reverse.

On the web you can sign in with either your email or your username. If you remember your username but not which email you used, try the username.

3. Make sure you have an account

If you never finished signing up, there's nothing to sign in to. Browsers sometimes save a password for a site where registration was never completed, which makes it look like an account exists when it doesn't.

If you're not sure, try signing up fresh. If an account already exists for that address, we'll tell you rather than creating a second one.

Still stuck?

Email [email protected]. Tell us the email address you think the account is under and we'll look it up and tell you what we find.

We can't tell you your password — we can't see it, and neither can anyone else here, because passwords are stored hashed rather than in readable form. We can help you get a working reset link.
