Terms of Service

Last updated: February 24, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using SetBook (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Description of Service

SetBook is a productivity tool for musicians. It allows you to store songs (charts), build setlists, schedule gigs, invite bandmates, and manage your music workflow. SetBook does not host, stream, or distribute music recordings.

3. User-Generated Content

You retain ownership of all content you create on SetBook, including song entries, setlists, notes, and profile information. You are solely responsible for the content you upload or enter.

By using the Service, you grant SetBook a limited license to store, display, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you and your bandmates.

4. Copyright & Lyrics

SetBook is designed as a personal reference tool for working musicians. Song entries typically contain metadata (title, artist, key, tempo) and personal performance notes such as chord progressions, cue sheets, or annotations.

You are responsible for ensuring that any content you enter complies with applicable copyright laws. SetBook does not provide legal advice regarding the use of copyrighted material. If you store lyrics, lead sheets, or other copyrighted content, you should have appropriate authorization (e.g., a license, fair use justification, or permission from the rights holder).

SetBook does not actively scan, monitor, or filter user content for copyrighted material. If we receive a valid DMCA takedown notice, we will comply with the notice and may remove or disable access to the identified content.

5. DMCA Takedown Policy

SetBook respects the intellectual property rights of others and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you believe that content hosted on SetBook infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notice to our designated agent.

To file a DMCA notice, send an email to [email protected] with the following information:

  • A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
  • The URL or location of the infringing content on SetBook
  • Your contact information (name, address, email, phone number)
  • A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf
  • Your physical or electronic signature

Upon receiving a valid DMCA notice, we will promptly remove or disable access to the identified content and notify the user who posted it. Users may submit a counter-notification if they believe the takedown was made in error. Repeat infringers may have their accounts suspended or terminated.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Upload malicious content, spam, or harmful code
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data without authorization
  • Scrape, crawl, or reverse-engineer the Service
  • Use the Service to distribute copyrighted material commercially without authorization

7. Accounts & Subscriptions

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. SetBook offers a free trial period followed by a paid subscription. Subscription terms and pricing are displayed on the subscribe page.

8. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including but not limited to accounts used for distributing unauthorized copyrighted content, harassment, or abuse.

9. Privacy

We collect only the data necessary to provide the Service: your email, profile information, and the content you create. We do not sell your data. We do not display ads. We do not use tracking pixels or third-party analytics. Your data is stored securely and is only shared with bandmates you explicitly invite. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

10. SMS & Text Messaging Consent

By enabling SMS notifications in your account settings and providing a phone number, you consent to receive text messages from SetBook at the phone number you provide. SMS notifications are optional and must be explicitly enabled by you.

These text messages may include:

  • Gig invitations and schedule updates
  • Payment reminders for gig compensation
  • Notifications from bandmates about shared content
  • Account and subscription notifications (if you enable SMS trial reminders)

Message frequency: Varies based on your activity and the notifications you enable. You may receive up to several messages per week depending on gig invitations and activity. Message and data rates may apply. SetBook does not charge for messages, but your mobile carrier may.

Opt-in and opt-out: You can manage your SMS notification preferences at any time from your Settings page. You may also text STOP to any SetBook message to immediately unsubscribe from all SMS notifications. Text HELP to any SetBook message for support information.

No marketing messages: We will never send marketing, promotional, or advertising SMS messages. All text messages are strictly transactional and directly related to your activity on SetBook.
